Regardless of the reasons for this departure from tradition, this provides a unique selling opportunity for newspapers. Smaller advertisers must scramble to catch up, or lose their share of 2007's Christmas spending. The "feet-on-the-street" newspaper advertising salespeople who can capitalize on this news fastest will enjoy the largest boost in their November revenue.
