Our dealers have been in an auto park for several years. They won't allow us to attend their monthly meeting. They also only use television to promote the auto park. I know a newspaper schedule could help them but I don't know how to get their attention. Anybody have any thoughts?

When approaching an auto park don't think in terms of ads, think in terms of quarterly promotions. Establish events like "Test Drive" promotion with a trip to Hawaii, a promotion where every car sold in a certain time period will contribute to the Children's Hospital, Used Car Blow-outs with celebrity appearance etc. Remember to tie-in your newspaper's online site. This will improve your chances when they see you more promotion driven versus a traditional single-minded newspaper sales rep. Go get 'em.

just got the autopark to run a "auto park used car sale" that will run every other month. As of now the park will have 1 full page full color ad with around 60 used cars from 15 diff dealers running Fri, Sat, and Sun at the end of this month. I know this is not going to bring in a ton of $$$ but this opens the door to the dealers who don't do business with us now. thanks for the great idea.

Good job there fishwrap. Don't forget to see them even when they are not running an ad. Relationship building is a huge part of continued success with auto dealers. Make them like you and they will continue to buy from you. Be a resourse for them. They like that.

The key with these auto folks is building and maintaining the relationships. My experience is that the groups will allow you into their meetings if you have some worth while reason to be there.
How about running a "shop your local dealer" campaign. Play off of the tax dollars that stay in your area by shopping locally and not out of county. Oh yeah..and you run the campaign free for 3-6 or 12 months. You can get into the meeting to discuss the campaign, discuss the creative and the goals. Eventually, you can ask them what those electronic boys and girls are doing for them? |

This past weekend we ran an auto park used car ad. The numbers were not all that great. they have not had the best year and they need to change something. I want to get the auto park running on a regular basis. Maybe a 1/2 page ad that runs 5 days a week in the retail section. have any idea's?? this ad will be split between 15 dealers. what should the ad include??
