Thumbs up The First Ever Win-an-iPod Newspaper Best Ad Ideas Contest Winner!

OK, first the important stuff. The grand prize for this contest will be twofold. First, and most importantly, the winner will have Ad Chatter forum bragging rights. Second, and of course, a far less motivational factor, the winner of this contest will win an iPod Shuffle.

Here are the rules:
1 – Each person may enter up to three ads.
2 – Ads must be from a local advertiser and produced by the newspaper. No national ads will be accepted.
3 – Submitted ads must have been published by the newspaper.
4 – Any local ad you have personally sold into the paper since July 4, 1776 through November 17, 2006 will be eligible.
5 – Ads must not be larger than 500 pixels high or 500 pixels wide.
6 – Ads must be submitted in this thread by Friday, November 17, 11:59PM PST.
7 – A paragraph explaining why this was a great ad for your customer must accompany each ad.
8 – All eligible ads submitted will be collected and posted in a new thread which will include a poll. Each registered member of the Ad Chatter forums will be allowed to vote one time with the vote leader being declared the winner. Make sure your coworkers and peers sign up and vote too!

If you need help submitting or resizing your ads, feel free to either PM or email me by using the appropriate function in my profile.

Good luck!

The customer wanted to keep this ad simple, powerful and straight to the point. They wanted to advertise the VW bug so we made sure it dominated the page. we also made sure we had a lot of white space and minimal copy. This is a half-page horizontal ad.

I chose this ad because the advertiser wanted to reach a younger audience and he loved the photo and the fun look. This is a 2X6.

A low local unemployment rate accompanied by high turnover in a number of industry-specific positions were the hiring challenges that this client faced this past spring. As a solution, we developed this eye-catching, compelling, and unique recruitment advertisement promoting their open positions, along with their involvement in our spring career fair. The ad was strategically placed on the back page of the first section of our jobs section to get the most visibility.

When I met with this client they had concerns about traffic over race weekend. Over the past few years during Nascar race events the main road to their location was shut down the weekend of the race. I suggested that we run an ad that includes alternate directions to their location. The next week when I followed up with my client they told me they had a huge increase in sales and activity compared to prior years and now they run the ad anytime a Nascar race comes to town. 6 x 3 full color on the weather page.

*This ad is not included in the poll because it was sumbitted late and is therefore not eligible to be included in this contest. It does, however, offer some good ideas for you to use so we decided to include it in this thread. Look for it to be submitted in future contests though! *
